Wörthersee Trail
Wörthersee Ultratrail
Experiencing nature around the lake
The Wörthersee Ultratrail covers around 65 kilometres, circling the picturesque Lake Wörthersee, and combines a sporting challenge with stunning natural scenery. The route passes through varied terrain: gentle hills, dense forests, idyllic lakeside paths and scenic ridges characterise the tour. The southern route in particular delights with peaceful nature trails, whilst the northern side offers repeated beautiful views of the lake.
This long-distance hike is demanding and requires a good level of fitness as well as sure-footedness. However, those who do not wish to complete the entire route in a single day can adapt their plans flexibly: on the northern side, between Klagenfurt and Velden, the S-Bahn provides a convenient way to rejoin the route. On the southern side, the ferry from Maria Wörth onwards offers a relaxing way to return to Pörtschach.
Whether you’re an ambitious long-distance hiker or a leisurely walker keen to experience individual stages – the Wörthersee Ultratrail is a unique experience of nature for anyone wishing to combine exercise with breathtaking views.
