Werzers Café-Restaurant Bootshaus

Welcome to the newest member of the Werzer family. Sometimes life writes the best stories spontaneously. In the spring of 2025, we were presented with a unique opportunity to take over the restaurant at the historic Werzers Strandcasino . With a healthy dose of passion, a significant investment and the support of first-class Carinthian craft businesses, we have made the impossible a reality. In just one month of construction, a completely renovated café-restaurant was created, which has been open to the public since the beginning of May 2025.

The Werzers Café-Restaurant Bootshaus boasts an unrivalled location right on the shores of Lake Wörthersee in Pörtschach. “Casual dining”, a relaxed lounge atmosphere and a unique setting right on the lakeside promenade by the jetty in Pörtschach ensure moments of pure relaxation and enjoyment. At the BOOTSHAUS, you sit right by the water, with an unobstructed view and a clear head. A fine drink, a good meal – that’s all you need. Just turn up and enjoy moments of pure lakeside bliss.

The new Bootshaus café-restaurant is the perfect place to enjoy a meal – whether on the spur of the moment or for a special occasion. The menu promises ‘casual dining’ – regional delicacies with a Mediterranean flair from the Alpe-Adria cuisine. With around 70 indoor & 100 terrace seats, a cosy lounge atmosphere and a prime location by the jetty, the venue is set to become the place to be for relaxing moments of indulgence, family celebrations or exclusive events right on the shores of Lake Wörthersee.

Direct access by boat

Thanks to our location right next to the Pörtschach jetty, you can stop off at our café-restaurant straight from the water.

Travelling by car from Klagenfurt:
Follow the A2 Südautobahn motorway towards Villach and take the “Pörtschach West” exit. From there, it is only a few minutes’ drive to the town centre. Head towards the lake – the Bootshaus is located directly at Werzerpromenade 8, on the lakeshore of the Werzer Hotel Resort. Paid parking is available on site, right next to the tennis courts at the Werzer Hotel Resort.

Travelling by car from Villach
Take the A2 towards Klagenfurt and take the “Pörtschach Ost” exit. Follow the signs into the town centre and on to the lake. The Café-Restaurant Bootshaus awaits you in a stunning location at Werzerpromenade 10 – parking is available directly at the tennis courts of the Werzers Hotel Resort (subject to a charge).

Because there’s always something to celebrate

The Bootshaus café-restaurant, with its 170 seats (indoor: approx. 70 / outdoor: approx. 100) is perfect for family celebrations, birthday parties, corporate events and all kinds of functions. In the off-season, you can book the entire café-restaurant exclusively for your event.

Opening hours

The Bootshaus café-restaurant is open daily from 11:00 to 22:00. The kitchen is open from 12:00 to 21:00.

Where can I book a table?

Please note that your table will only be considered reserved once we have confirmed your booking.

We are also happy to take table reservations by telephone during our opening hours.

What happens if I can’t make my table booking?

Bookings can be cancelled free of charge at any time – either in writing or by telephone by 12 noon on the day of the booking. In the event of a no-show, a charge of €30 per person will be made.

Where can I park?

For the duration of your visit to the restaurant, you can park in the public, pay-and-display car park by the tennis courts. Please note that you will need to take a ticket there.

Can I bring my dog with me?

Pets are, of course, welcome on the lakeside terrace and in the restaurant area.
We do ask for your understanding that we expect your dog to be well-behaved, kept on a lead at all times and kept under the table whilst in the restaurant.

Is smoking allowed at the Bootshaus Restaurant?

Our restaurant is non-smoking indoors, but smoking is permitted in the outdoor area.

Can parties be held at the Bootshaus Restaurant?

The Bootshaus café-restaurant can be booked either for smaller celebrations whilst the restaurant is open, or for exclusive hire. Whether it’s a wedding, christening, anniversary or corporate event.

Does the Bootshaus Restaurant serve hot meals all day?

Hot meals:

Daily 12:00 – 21:00

Can you moor a boat there?

For anyone who enjoys exploring the lake by boat, there are jetties available right in front of the BOOTSHAUS.

The Café-Restaurant Bootshaus awaits you in a magnificent location at Werzerpromenade 10 – you’ll find parking facilities right next to the tennis courts at the Werzer Hotel Resort (subject to a charge).

On foot from Pörtschach railway station
Upon arrival at Pörtschach railway station, take a leisurely 10-minute stroll along the lakeside promenade or through the town centre towards the lake. The Bootshaus is situated right by the water – simply follow the signs to the Werzers Hotel Resort. The route is flat and well signposted – ideal for a short stroll with a view of the lake.
